Amsterdam School side chair in oak and colorful upholstery.This is a very charming display and refined example of a chair made entirely in the Amsterdam School style. The typical features that make this Dutch architecture style so popular are hidden in miniature in this side chair.

Design

To begin with, it is the unmistakable expressiveness with which this chair fills the interior. The armrests extend downwards in triangular shapes while the backrest shows a triangle in upward motion. The flanks consist of layered rectangular oak parts that have acquired an amazing patination over the years.At the front we see a subtle decoration on both sides by means of two wooden protruding strips. The same decoration can often be seen in buildings of the same style, but then done with protruding bricks.The upholstery, which is fixed with decorative nails, has probably been redone at some point and has an abstract pattern of different bright colors. It results in creating a playful contrast with the characteristic oak.

Condition

The condition of this item is entirely consistent with age and use. We also see small scratches and color differences in the frame.
